Paula Modersohn-Becker is one of the most important artists of the 20th century. Barely noticed during her lifetime, her position as a pioneer of the modern age was recognised and advanced only after her early death, above all through the commitment of her friend the sculptor Bernhard Hoetger. During more than ten years working as an artist, she created around 750 paintings and more than 1,000 drawings.
